Indonesia, May 2009
Chris Grose, IMA’s Managing Director, recently returned from a third mission to Aceh where he worked with colleagues from the Economics Faculty at UNSYIAH to support this FAO/ARC project assignment. This mission was to prepare the final capacity building needs analysis documentation for the Fisheries and Marine Agency. Chris worked with focus groups in selected target districts in Aceh province and conducted several workshops and field visits to establish key training needs and possible ways to address them.
The feedback has been extremely positive with great participation from senior staff in clarifying their own needs as well as those of their staff in the office and those located in community sites. During June, the final reporting is being done which will provide some clear guidance to the project and government staff as to ways to develop capacity now and beyond the life of this project which finishes in June 2010.
