The M&E course in Cape town brought together participants from all over Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and America from a diverse range of backgrounds including international development finance, management consultancy, government agencies and NGOs. The course was held at the Breakwater Lodge Business Centre at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town.
The M&E course is intensive and covers a lot of topics. and to assist practical skills are integated throughout the course. A case study exercise was organised by visiting Gold (a Leadership and HIV/Aids organisation) , where we looked at their M&E systems and carried out an evaluation of their school mentoring programme. Cape Town also provided lots of opportunities for a social programme, which were taken full advantage of. The social programme started with a a tour around Cape Point visiting penguins on the way and moved to a jazz restaurant in the second week.
