Bangkok, June 2008
The Project Planning course from 2-6th June was run by our Asian based trainers Julia Smith and Trevor Smallbone. It was held at the Eastin Hotel in the centre of Bangkok. Participants attended from Afghanistan, Malaysia, DR Congo, Botswana and Vietnam.
The course provided skills and knowledge in all aspects of project planning by working in groups on case studies to produce a project plan. Several participants remained with IMA in Bangkok to continue with the Effective Management Skills course the following week. As well as lively, interactive sessions in the classroom there was a study visit to a reputable Thai development organisation called the Population Development Association.
The participants were a supportive group and were willing to share their ideas and experiences for learning. Everyone produced a carefully considered action plan about what they will do when they return to their work place.
An active social programme was arranged as an option for participants who wanted to meet informally to strengthen their professional network and enjoy excursions in the area. We concluded with a spectacular dinner cruise which provided floodlit vistas of the Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn.
