Oslo, November 2009 and September 2010
In November 2009 and September 2010, Sally Monkman developed, designed and delivered two 2-day training workshops, held in Oslo, in Project Development and Planning to representatives of NDN/Bistandstorget member organisation.
The course content included:
• Situation Analysis
• Stakeholder Analysis
• Problem and Objective Trees
• Results-Management (using the logical framework approach)
• Workplans
• Compiling project budgets
The purpose of the training was to improve knowledge and skills in project development and planning within the NGO and civil society sector in Norway. The course focused on how planning can assist in the development of successful projects; engaging with stakeholders; the use of practical planning tools and techniques and ensuring that decisions are based on a firm evidence base.
The course included practical group work sessions and the use of a case study. The initial training was reviewed and feedback from participants was used to update the course prior to the second workshop. The training was completed successfully with positive feedback and course materials are now held by NDN and are available to its members, along with notes for trainers.
