Planning Development Projects Scheduled Course

IMA’s debut course in Kuala Lumpur was Planning Development Projects with Julia Smith as Course Director. This course focused on how to plan a development project from situation analysis through to implementation planning. Each participant worked in a mixed team to actually design a project using the Logical Framework Approach. The high Trainer to Participant Ratio ensured everyone was fully involved and had a chance to develop practical skills.

Halfway through the course our group was received by the Economic Planning Unit to learn directly about the Planning Process that enabled Malaysia to reduce their poverty level from 49% to 3.5% since 1970. It was also an opportunity to visit the planned and artificial city of Putrajaya that serves as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia.

Our group included participants from UNEFPA in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Presidency of Divan in Iraq, Ministry of Trade & Industry in Malawi, Ministry of Education in Maldives, Churches Health Association of Zambia, Caritas in Indonesia.

The group was proactive and very friendly. They arranged to meet after the training and explored Kuala Lumpur together.
