People Skills Workshop for Experienced Development Managers Scheduled Course

The IMA scheduled course in People Skills for Experienced Development Managers was held in Bangkok between the 19th and 21st November with 10 participants from the USA, Cambodia, Canada, Germany, Thailand, Mozambique, the UK and Indonesia. Organisations represented included the German and American Red Cross, ACORD and the Lutheran World Foundation.

The participants were all highly experienced leaders and the level of sharing between them high, including a specific open session on the third day for us to share good practice and ask for advice on issues.

Each of the 3 days was devoted to a specific theme i.e. teambuilding, coaching and change management. As well as concepts, practical tools and techniques provided in the course material, the input from the participants themselves led to a rich discussion.

Some of the participants joined with the M & E course to go bowling on the first night which was very much enjoyed and some good friendships initiated. The small size of the group was ideal for sharing ideas and experiences and enabled strong networking to be developed.
