Kuala Lumpur, November 2010
A group of 7 came together to study People Management at our base in Kuala Lumpur from Denmark, UK, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan and Laos. Participants were working in either NGOs, UN agencies and one from the private sector and both genders equally represented.
This diversity was used to full advantage to explore people management in a range of cultures and organisations. All the main areas of people management were covered including leadership, teams, motivation, performance management, delegation, communications, presentation skills and other specific areas.
A visit was made to Petronas to discuss how people are managed in one of the world's largest companies. An additional motivator was the location being in the "Twin Towers" above the bridge.
To provide a realism to the training participants took part in a "consultancy exercise" at the Melia Hotel to determine the communications used. The results were so good that we should now see an improvement in the service levels at the hotel.
All participants left the course motivated to improve their people management skills. As normal we celebrated at the final dinner and cultural show.
