The FAO has been working with local government in Aceh to strengthen and build the capacity of local government departments in planning and monitoring and evaluation. This initiative has been supported by the central government Department of Planning, BAPPENAS.
IMA International was invited to prepare a series of tailor-made M & E and Change Management workshops for government staff at two districts in Aceh over a period of six days. The first day of workshops was lead by a member of the Central Government Planning Department and FAO’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. A further five days of practical training, using M & E tools and a field exercise, were facilitated by IMA International’s Consultant in Bahasa Indonesian.
Participants said that the workshops gave them a better understanding of the expectations of Central Government in relation to Results-Based management and M & E. They also felt that the workshops had provided them with many useful and practical tools to help them manage their projects and programmes in line with new government regulations. Participants expressed the hope that more support could be provided in this areas in the future.
