Botswana, October 2008
IMA organised a special course for the Ministry of Local Government in Botswana to develop capacity in M&E at all levels of the Ministry. Twenty six participants attended from both Ministry Headquarters in Gaborone and from District offices.
The course is part of a process for the Ministry of Local Government to develop an M&E system this being the starting point to develop capacity. An output of the course was an action plan for the next steps to develop the M&E system. The action plan coming out a logical framework developed with the group.
Training was held at Mokolodi Nature Reserve just outside Gaborone. Participants had to transfer to safari vehicles to reach the training venue providing a pleasant game drive each day.
The course was our standard M&E course adapted to suit the needs of the Ministry of Local Government. A break from training was to visit the National Aids Coordinating Agency to observe how they were conducting M&E as part of the national response.
