Our very popular Monitoring and Evaluation Course was held in Cape Town from 18 – 29 October at the Winchester Mansions Hotel, Seapoint. Course participants came from Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia representing the private sector, international and local NGOs, as well as government organisations.
The course provided participants with the insights and skills to develop and maintain M&E systems, to communicate findings and to address resistance to change. In the second week participants applied their knowledge through a Rapid Appraisal of a local youth development programme, Hoops 4 Hope (www.hoopsafrica.org) with whom we have worked before. Along with a visit from the Head of M&E at the Department for Social Development, Western Cape the participants had lots of exposure to M&E in action. A full social programme, with ten pin bowling, a tour of the beautiful Cape Peninsular and a final dinner at Mama Africa on Long Street completed a memorable two weeks.
