Development Planning and Management

Eleven participants representing Nigeria, Tajikistan, Egypt, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Mozambique attended this summer’s Development Planning and Monitoring course, held in Brighton this year. The mix of participants ensured a dynamic learning environment based on practical experience from around the globe. Participants left with improved skills and greater understanding in key areas of project management including; Development approaches, Project planning and implementation, Financial Management, Leadership, Team building and Motivation. Practical applications of the lessons learnt were observed during field visits to The Rye Partnership and to Mid-Sussex County Council. IMA is committed to ensuring that this knowledge is applied, and will be keeping in touch with participants to monitor the implementation of Action Plans developed during the course. It was not all work though, and participants enjoyed a night exploring Brighton (for many their first, but hopefully not their last, experience), late-night shopping in Brighton, a visit to the IMA office in Hurstpierpoint with a wonderful summers evening walk through the summer green countryside and a team meal at the end of the course. In addition the beautiful summer weather meant that many evenings were spent by the participants enjoying the beaches and promenades in Brighton.
