Bangkok, November 2008
The very popular M&E course was conducted once again at the Eastin Hotel, Bangkok from 10 – 21 November 2008. Twenty four participants attended from Nigeria, Albania, UK, Pakistan, Myanmar (Burma), Vietnam, Zambia, Afghanistan, Denmark, Libya and Yemen. All brought to the course an enthusiasm for M&E and for how they are developing M&E in their organisations.
The course is the same course as we teach in UK, but has the advantage in Bangkok that we are able to use the floating market as a practical exercise. In the exercise, participants practise all the steps required to conduct an effective evaluation and conclude with a presentation to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The course was conducted by David Hearle from Australia, Sam Kareithi from South Africa and Catherine Lowery from our UK office.
As is normal in Bangkok, we are able to offer a varied social programme and participants enjoyed bowling, Loy Krathong (a traditional Thai festival), Thai puppets, a weekend visit to the Ancient City and a celebration of completion with a dinner cruise.
