To provide an insight for senior members of 6 state public finance and service delivery institutions into key leadership practices and styles to enable them to make a difference at both a personal and organisational level. The main focus of the course was on “soft” skills and the successful introduction of change in the context of significantly reducing corruption as described through Support to Reforming Institutions Programme (SRIP).
Two one week courses were delivered. The first course 2nd-5th July was held at Enugu for members of the 3 southern states of Osun, Anambra and Cross River with 25 participants. The second course 9th -13th July was held in Abuja for members of the Northern States of Yobe, Kano and Jigawa with 26 participants
The course included:
Day 1: Identification of the opportunities and challenges facing leaders in achieving their goal; keyqualities in leadership; leadership compared to management and how they are integrated
Day 2: leadership styles ; self managing leadership; leading styles related to specific cultural context of their states and organizations
Day 3: Working against corruption: understanding the problem; working with a framework to achieve better accountability, integrity and transparency; organizational vision for success and leading the organization from vision to implementation - including effective delegation
Day 4: Personal change and vision; Framework for introducing change effectively related to a specific change identified in their organizational vision
Day 5 Integrating learnings into a practical and realistic action plan developed specifically for each state
