Bangkok, June 2008
IMA ran its scheduled 5 day course for Effective Management Skills in Bangkok, Thailand from June 9 -13th 2008. 15 participants attended representing 7 countries and many different functions, including a Project Director and a Portfolio Co-ordinator, Senior Finance Associates, several HR and Training specialists and an acting Chief of Programmes.
Organisation represented were the Ministry of Education in Yemen, the United Nations Mission in Sudan, the United Nations Mine Action Centre for Afghanistan, the National Foundation for Indigenous Nationalities from Nepal, SNV Bhutan, the Ekwerazu East Community Bank, Nigeria; Human Development Initiatives also based in Nigeria and the ActionAid office in Bangkok.
As well as the 2 trainers, the course was ably supported by our Thai member of staff located in Bangkok, who arranged some excellent evening social events and ensured all the participants’ administrative requirements were met. She also took many excellent photos of both the training and social events thus providing an unforgettable memory of the very enjoyable and informative time we had spent together.
Several of the participants had taken up our 25th anniversary offer of 3 for the price of 2 participants, thus enabling them to discuss specific management approaches for their own organisation and also forming some very useful and strong knowledge assets to take back to their organisations. All the participants collaborated extremely well during the course and will no doubt become strong members of our IMA Alumni group.
As is our normal practice on scheduled courses, the participants all completed individual action plans which IMA offer to support through email. We look forward to being in contact with everyone over the next 3 months.
