Effective Leadership for The Brooke, London

We have just completed a 2-day Effective Leadership programme with The Brooke. The Brooke is the UK’s leading overseas equine welfare charity and aims to improve the lives of horses, donkeys and mules working in the poorest parts of the world. They are an organisation with ambitions, wanting to increase the number of animals they reach from 650,000 to 5,000,000 over the next 8 years.

Directing the course was Stephen Creffield and he was joined by 8 participants from Brooke England, Egypt, Ethiopia, Pakistan and India. They came together to explore and evaluate a range of leadership approaches. The course was designed as kind of ‘taster’ where different approaches were discussed, applied and reviewed. We explored the distinction between management and leadership, looked at a range of leadership ideas including Servant Leadership, we then looked at how to shape a compelling vision and how to share that vision. On the second day we explored the management of change using a range of practical and proven approaches.

We all left London feeling that an important step had been taken, everyone had an action plan and ideas of how to develop their own leadership capacity.

‘Enjoyable and well designed and facilitated course led by a good and experienced facilitator.’

‘Very relevant and very useful at this stage of building common understanding of vision, strategy, policy and systems, will use the exercises with my own team, appreciated not being ‘sold’ one method.’
