Development Planning and Management, Thailand, November 2006

10 participants working in Tajikistan, Egypt, Mongolia, East Timor, Botswana, Tanzania and Bangladesh attended this years Development Planning and Monitoring course, held in Bangkok. The mix of participants ensured a dynamic learning environment based on practical experience from around the globe. Participants left with improved skills and greater understanding in key areas of project management including; Development approaches, Project planning and implementation, Financial Management, Leadership, Team building and Motivation. Practical applications of the lessons learnt were observed during two field visits to the Coastal Habitat and Resource Management Project and the Population and Community Development Association which ensured participants could see many of the topics covered in action IMA is committed to ensuring that this knowledge is applied, and will be keeping in touch with participants to monitor the implementation of Action Plans developed during the course. It was not all work though, and participants enjoyed a number of the attractions Bangkok has to offer, including shopping at the night market, a visit to a traditional puppet show and the annual Loy Kratong festival in a small local community.
