The consultancy was part of the Basic Education Development Project within the Basic Education Development Strategy, a framework for the Ministry of Education to achieve the goals of Education for All by 2015, with a specific focus on gender equity. The objectives were to improve gender awareness within the Ministry of Education so that gender considerations are used in decision-making in the future, to engender selected aspects of the MoE's tools, processes and policies, and for the Ministry to use these guidelines for putting gendered strategies into practice.

The Organisational Leadership course this year was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A mixture of in classroom learning and practical application of knowledge through studies and role play enabled participants to share their knowledge and practical experience gathered from their impressive experience in their respective sectors.

This is the second year Monitoring and Evaluation in Development Course has been held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This year participants from as far away as Panama, as well as from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sudan, Cambodia, and Yemen joined the programme. They represented a wide range of different organisations, including government departments, donor organisations, and INGOs and NGOs.

The People Management course this year was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Participants represented Nigeria, USA, Cambodia and Yemen and a mix of private sector, NGO and government projects. A mixture of in classroom learning and practical application of knowledge through studies, presentations and role play enabled participants to share their knowledge and learn from the different people they engaged with during the course. A great diversity of personal experiences shared meant that each participant walked away with a personal action plan that was full of new ideas to take back to their organisations.

The Team Building course this year was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Participants enjoyed a field trip where they were able to study teams in different organisations in action, and role-played a consultancy providing recommendations to an organisation regarding problems concerning their teams. Subjects such as communication, effective meetings, delegation and roles within a team were covered and a high calibre of participants meant that a wealth of knowledge and experience in management was applied to the exercises covered.
