Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation for the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, South Africa

In February, the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, South Africa, chose IMA International as its partner to deliver a week’s capacity-building for its departmental leaders of monitoring and evaluation. The workshop was a key stage in the development of the Provincial Government’s Results-Based M&E system. The Government has identified 10 Strategic Objectives for its 5 year Provincial Strategic Plan, and its RBME system is being re-engineered to provide evidence of the achievement of the outcomes and outputs that align with these objectives. The Western Cape is the most advanced of the South Africa Provincial Governments in building RBME capacity.

National Consultant Capacity Building Programme: Stage 2

Twenty Nigerian staff from SPARC (the DFID-supported State Partnership for Accountability, Responsiveness and Capability Programme) met for the second of three courses 8-12 February 2010 in Abuja. Working in five different states and the national office in Abuja, their role is to support state and federal governments in three key areas: public financial management, policy and strategy, and public sector reform.

Working closely with our branding agency, Preview , we have brought the whole site up to date with our new brand and logo; we have also paid close attention to the most popular routes that different kinds of users follow through the various pages, and simplified the site architecture around their needs.

Monitoring and Evaluation course for Aga Khan

IMA Consultant Tristan Measures ran a 5 day Monitoring and Evaluation Course for the Aga Khan Network in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. This was attended by 13 staff members of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and its partners including the Mountain Societies Development Programme (MSDP). Participants included the Chief Executive, Senior Finance and Programme Managers as well as Evaluation specialists.

Kuala Lumpur, November 2009

Organisational Leadership, Scheduled Course

Participants from Bangladesh, Sweden, Nigeria, Cambodia and Lao, People's Democratic Republic came together in Kuala Lumpur to immerse themselves in leadership – we explored questions like ‘what is leadership? What skills are involved? And how can we put those skills into our own practice? Each participant came away from the week with news skills, insights and with their own definition of leadership, a definition that resonated with themselves and one that would fit the time, place and circumstances of their work back home.
